The Opportunity 

As a part of a larger consulting project at a large professional services firm, Paradox discovered that employees wanted greater career path clarity and transparency, including more proactive career conversations and information about long-term career opportunities. 

Leaders of the organization agreed managers and employees needed to be empowered to have open and effective career conversations to support internal career mobility and employee retention.

The Solution 

To educate a large number of remote employees in an engaging and interactive way, we developed two 90-minute virtual trainings about how to have effective career conversations: one for managers and one for employees. In addition, we created an extensive, research-based playbook PDF that people could refer to after the training was complete.  

We conducted 12 training sessions for hundreds of managers and team members over 6 weeks. At the conclusion of these sessions, we then delivered a train-the-trainer session and licensed our training content to the HR team so that the client could provide this training on a ongoing basis in the future for new hires. 

The Impact

As a result of this training and development effort: 

  • 85% of team members said they had a better understanding of future career opportunities. 
  • 90% of managers and 85% of team members said they were satisfied with the Career Conversations training.
